I basically grew up in a bowling alley, so it’s no surprise that one would land on my list of favorite spots. Designed in 1960 by the architectural firm Pierson and Miller AIA, Let It Roll Bowl showcases classic Googie architecture—futuristic lines, bold angles, and unmistakable mid-century charm. It’s nestled in Sunnyslope, an offbeat and authentic neighborhood that wasn’t even officially part of Phoenix until the 1950s. That history gives it a rebellious, independent streak, and Let It Roll fits right in.
Bowling itself has changed a lot over the years. What was once a league-driven pastime—where blue-collar folks could unwind with some friendly competition, a cold drink, and an above average affordable meal—has largely morphed into a glossy, high-volume experience with strobe lights, loud music, and overpriced cocktails.
But not at Let It Roll Bowl. Stacy Anderson and the team have done an amazing job preserving the vintage vibe while evolving into a true community hub. They host everything from comedy shows and live music to fundraisers, private parties, and—yes—those classic league nights. Let It Roll has always stayed grounded in the community, supporting local organizations and offering a space where Phoenix residents can gather, connect, and have a great time.
So go take the family bowling—or hire a babysitter and enjoy a night out with your partner. Let the good times roll. 😉
Fun Fact: I’ve bowled (5) 300 games at Let it Roll Bowl.
